Easy to Get Around

Perhaps the biggest problem for traffic in the Melbourne city centre, as well as in other big cities is parking. The lack of parking spaces is one is the biggest nightmare for Melbournians. The easiest way to get from place to place in the city is public transport. Trains trams and busses are the most convenient type of transport.

A myki is a durable plastic card—similar in size to a credit card—which you can use to pay for travel on public transport. You can add money to your myki balance amount at designated myki payment machines at train stations.

$8 – $10 for a day’s round trip. You’ll pay no more than $6 per day on Weekends and public holidays for unlimited travel in Zone 1+2. For regular travellers, a weekly or monthly pass will be a lot cheaper.

Myki cards are valid for travel on all metropolitan tram and train services including V/Line (country services) and on regional bus services in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Seymour, Warragul and the Latrobe Valley. You can purchase them at all major stations or via 13 6954 or online. www.myki.com.au
