A talented Italian native Graphic Designer, who currently lives in Adelaide. Fabrizio started as a freelance graphic designer in 1998, he is also a scriptwriter for movies, tv-series and comic books. He has been working as the Editor-in-chief for Remer Comics comic book publishing house Since 2018.
Latest Achievements: Fabrizio’s exceptional work as one of the screenwriters garnered an award for “The Dark Ahead”, directed by Tobia Berto, which won Best Feature Film at the prestigious Golden FEMI Film Festival. This festival focuses on preventing violence against women.
Once upon a time, in Venice Italy, a very shy boy was about to turn fifteen. His name is Fabrizio Capigatti. Fabrizio’s dream was to become a comic book illustrator. Damn, he loved Peter Parker so much. Anyway, a friend of his dad was a quite famous comic book author, who was looking directly into the boy’s eyes, gravely announced his piece of advice: “Don’t even think about this job, boy. You can’t make a living for it. You will end up like me, starting to draw adult comic books to survive!”. Now, even though drawing that genre didn’t seem a bad idea for a teen boy in the middle of his hormonal storm, he gave up on his dream.
I know you’re thinking that’s a sad story but wait for it.
Many years later, that boy has grown up and he entered the Role Play Game industry. After he has created three games, he decided to draw comics for those games as well. It was those comic books that brought him to the notice of a comic book publishing house. So, the editor gave him a job: to write a historical comic book. Hell yes, from that moment Fabrizio knew that his dream has finally come true, to become a comic book scriptwriter!
Yes, it is my story, and it is getting better every day. A few years ago, I decided to challenge myself and moved to Australia, I got myself out of my comfort zone after 20 years of working in Italy as a graphic designer and scriptwriter, here we go to start fresh again, I’m sure we must improve ourselves through any kind of job and situation we find in our life. That’s the reason why I enrolled at the Australian City Design College, in order to upskill myself and pick up some new knowledge in the screen and media industry.
In Italy I watched one of the Steve Job’s speeches. His words have been cathartic: ‘Stay hungry, stay foolish’. Second, never give up. It’s never too late to follow our dream. Never. All you need to do is to act on it, rather than keep saying ‘I wanna do’.
As the scriptwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge once said: “You may not write well every day, but you can always edit a bad page. You can’t edit a blank page.” Challenging yourself every day, that was I did. After my graduation of Diploma of Screen and Media with ACDC, I have been offered a job straightaway!
It is a wonderful thing to be able to do what I love the most, teaching short courses for InDesign and how to write comic books! I’m extremely grateful for all I’ve learnt from ACDC as well as being accepted as a part of the ACDC family, was given the opportunity for being here to share with you all of my experience.
Now, let’s write your stories!
Ultimately…
